Paula Heelan
OUTBACK magazine – ON ASSIGNMENT: Issue 57 FEB/MAR 08
Paula Heelan writes from a cattle station north-east of Clermont in central Queensland. She says that life in the bush with its extreme weather conditions, endless dust and amazing people, means she is never short of a story or a photograph. Her knowledge of station life and the beef industry is extensive and has appeared in the pages of OUTBACK right from the magazine’s early days. In between home schooling her nine-year-old daughter, Paula writes for a range of magazines and industry publications, including Australian Country Style, the Queensland Country Life, Meat & Livestock Australia and regional newspapers all over the country. For her story in this issue, Paula visited Kilcummin, Qld, where she found a community with a special tie to the past.
